Barters Farm Nurseries in Chapmanslade are looking for workers to get stuck in to helping us produce the next season's crop of shrubs and perennials. This long-established nursery supplies garden centres, landscapers and garden designers across the south of England.
Much of the work is outdoors in all weathers and is physically demanding. A knowledge of horticulture is not essential, but is an advantage. The job is not gardening and is more akin to factory production of plants with thousands of plants being potted in the course of a busy week. As well as being involved in production, there will be other jobs such as weeding, bed-clearing, watering and cultural work on the plants. We are a very friendly company and welcome people who will turn up on time, work hard and can use their initiative.
The role is available from now until July depending on how well the season goes.
Hours are from 8.30 till 4.30 Monday to Thursday and finishing at 3.30pm on Fridays.
A provisional driving licence is essential and a full one even better.
Rates of pay depend on age and experience.
Successful candidates will have a 2-week probation period to show they are capable of working to the required standard and work rate.
