Whereas some nurseries just supply what they grow, we aim to provide a one-stop quote and supply shop for our customers. It may take us a few days to pull your order together, but the hassle it saves our customers makes it well worthwhile.

What we grow

The team at Barters have well over 200 years' combined experience in wholesale and retail, so we know what we're talking about.  We've been through freezing winters, baking summers, recessions and boom times.

Our team

We're regularly finding people in the trade who've lived locally for years, but didn't know the wholesale nursery existed as Barters to many of them was just a Plant Centre.

If you'd like to see our stock remotely, please email us to let us know you are coming. We have one bed near the office where orders are set out. Apart from that, all the stock you see, excluding plugs and liners, is available for sale.

As Barters has been around for more than 60 years, it has witnessed the birth of garden centres, product merchandising, the introduction of VAT, the bitterly cold winter of 1963, the drought of 1976, the winter of discontent and the boom and bust cycles of the last few decades.
