Job description:  Retail Nursery worker

Working in a thriving family-run plant nursery business.

We have a retail area selling plants and garden supplies to the public.

Main duties include:

Serving customers.

Stocking the Retail centre and liaising with the Nursery for the supply of plants.

Maintaining plant quality and displays.

Watering plant stock.

Helping on the Nursery when required and to broaden knowledge of the whole horticultural process that are carried out at Barters.

Answering the phone, emails and face to face enquiries from customers.

Utilising and updating the nursery inventory software.

Ideal candidates will have:

Physical fitness - the work is sometimes demanding.

The confidence and the ability to communicate verbally and in writing with customers, colleagues, suppliers and all visitors to the site.

Good plant knowledge and be able to find plant information.

A practical approach to solving problems.

Computer literacy and be willing to learn new systems of inventory, report-making, marketing, invoicing & office software.

RHS level 2 or equivalent life-experience would be of considerable benefit.

Must be a genuine team player and demonstrate this by creating positive relationship with colleagues during probationary period.

This job requires weekend work - not more than one weekend in three.

Part-time positions may be offered if the right person for the job cannot commit to full-time work.

Tidying plants ready for sale, watering, serving customers, helping to create/move displays - these are some of the more routine aspects, other duties as needed.

Would suit a fit and energetic individual who enjoys working as part of a team.
